of cider.

Strong hard cider,
slightly sparkling
and dry.

The apples would have been high in malic acid.

Good body and zest!

Kingston Black cider apples considerred the greatest
of all cider apples.

Goldern and Clear

Strong and Scottish

Smells of 'Vimto Chewing

gum' and that's not being

negative.Its the first impression

the odour of the cider gave me when first opening bottle,

positive!

Fruity sweetness of smell with a slight fizz on the tongue

and a hint of bitterness .

Very deceiving in terms of alcohol strength.

Interesting product to cook with.

Burrow Hill Perry

Lovely depth of

colour to the perry.

On opening top

the smell of perry

wanders from within

the bottle.

Not overly sparkling but Oh so smoooooooth.

Coats the back of the throat with the taste of pears.

Sparkling bubbles midley explode on your palate

allowing the full flavour of perry to attach itself

to your taste bubs.

On opening bottle a

plesant apple aroma

whiffs towards your

Not overly sweet to the palate,but leaves

a sweetness on the edge of your tongue,with

a hint of apple on the back of the throat.

Slightly sparkling sensation but quaffable.

Refreshing but heavy in taste.

Make sure the tractor driver doesn't drink any!

Hogan's Medium Dry Cider

Hogan's cider nestling at Haselor,just a few miles East of Alcester in the county of Warwickshire.

The cider has won awards at 'The three Counties show' and 'Big Apple Cider Trials' at Putley to name just two.

Tall brown 500ml bottle which on opening eminates a scent of cider apples.

Slightly sparkling.

Strange and silly but the initially taste reminds me of cheese!
(A postive taste)
A musky dryish tasting cider,leaving a lovely taste of apple on the palate and back of the throat.

SHEPPY's CIDER WITH HONEY

Sheppy's Cider with Honey

Produced at Bradford-on-Tone just south

of Taunton.( I always leave the M5 at Junc 26

and head north up the A38. Just approx.20 miles

from Somerset Cider Brandy Company - Burrow Hill

Cider.Could vist both in a day easily)

Now for the interesting bit!!!

500ml bottle of cider,nothing special there.

Lovely smell of apples on removing the cap.

Well its smooth - lovely - dryish but smooth.

The honey doesn't really make its self known,other than in the smoothness and 'masking' of the cider's alcoholic strength.

Don't worry its not sweet,slightly sparkling.

Well worth trying.

KNIGHTS MALVERN GOLD

Another fine cider from the foot hills of the Malvern Hills

Lovely goldern brown colour.

On opening the bottle there is an apple aroma that floats through your nostrils,encouraging you
to drink.
Slightly sparkling,the bubbles staying in suspension,so not overly fizzy.
On drinking its smooth with a slight hint of bitterness and dryness,with a sweetness that isn't apparent straight away.

Please note - this isn't a sweet cider ,my comment above on a sweetness scale of 1 to 10,10 being the most sweet,would registar 1 or possibly 2

Little Green Man is WATCHING !

Lightly goldern to look at,with

a pleasant aroma on opening.

Taste is sharp (bite) with a

refreshing taste of apple,

slightly fizzy but pleasant,leaving

Lovely session cider (4.5%) and good value at

What a lovely part of the country! If you are a cider/perry lover it's a must vist area to sample such a wide variety of cider and perries from numerous cider producers.

SHEZAM

A lovely goldern brown cider that reflects an air of quality from within.

Open the bottle and the sense of bubbles hit your nostrils with a hint of apples. Mellow, smooth and an after taste of dryness of fruit which lingers and coats the back of the thoat.

BURROW HILL CIDER

Burrow Hill cider made by the Somerset Cider Brandy Company.
Situated at Kingsbury Episcopi in one of the three vintage areas for growing apples for fermenting.

Up to forty varieties of cider apples are grown in traditional orchards (grazed with sheep), the apples have been pressed for cider for the last 150 years. Traditional methods used,fermenting juice in the Autumn without first turning it into concentrate.

A goldern brown cider - smells of apples, fruity and slightly sharp but refreshing with a hint of dryness on the back of the throat.

Healy's Cornish Rattler

Fruity and slightly sharp with a dry fizz that hits the back of the throat
Healey's cyder producers of are the largest cyder makers in Cornwall, they also produce cyder brandy and fruit spirits.
Originally Cornish Rattler was only sold in draught form, now bottled - 6% apple juice some say. A blend of Cornish apples grown and pressed at the Cornish Cyder Farm's orchards at Penhallow near Truro.

Cornish Rattler gets it name from an old fashioned variety of Cornish apple- 'The Rattler' which comes from Penryn (just up from Falmouth) - quite a acid flavour but pleasant,pale,yellow in colour.They say it makes the best cyder!

Other Cornish cyder apples include - Pendragon,Pigs Snout,King Byerd, Stockbearer, and Cornish Spice.

Dunkertons Cider and Perry

Dunkertons can be found approximately one mile outside the ancient parish of Pembridge, a quintessential English village.
In keeping the tradition alive a large number of perry pear trees were planted in 2005. Twelve different varieties, Brandy, Yellow Huffcap, Judge Amphlett, Green House, Helens Early, Gin, Moorcroft, Greggs Pitt, Butt, Winnals Longdon and Hendre.
The cider and perry is organic, Dunkertons having held 'Soil Association Standard' since 1988. Sophisticated farmhouse cider!
PERRY
Possible the only organic perry in the UK? Smooth, delicate, slightly dry to the palate pear taste, with a hint of lightness.
PREMIUM
Smooth, refreshing at first, leaving a dry (with a hint of sweetness) appley taste on the back of the throat.
BLACKFOX
Medium dry with a delicate kick. Watch out for shadows, there lies the 'Black Fox'. Dry smooth with a hint of sharpness. Lovely aftertaste, which stays on the back of the throat for ages.

Norbury's Perry

Nestling under the brow of the Malvern Hills, just North of Malvern, lies a small village - Leigh Sinton. On the outskirts, heading towards Hereford, can be found Norbury's farm, home to a fantastic perry.

A number of years ago while out selling cider, I called at Norbury's where they also produce 'BLACK BULL' cider. The name 'BLACK BULL' comes from the family name 'NORBURY' deriving from the French words noir (black) and boeuf (bull). The family crest has a black bull as the heraldic device.

While talking to Eddie, chief cider/perry maker at Norbury's he suggested I should sample some perry. Now this wasn't out of a bottle, nor out of the main vat which is used to fill cannisters with draught. No this was a sample taken from an unfiltered vat, a number of years old!

Well - the taste, dry, smooth, but with a flavour of pears that stayed on the back of my throat for ages - awesome.

I'd never experienced a taste like it before, but it certainly started my love affair with perry, especially Norbury's perry.
